Your kindness restores hope. Give a child the gift of mobility today
Green Empowerment For Development (GEFD) has announced the successful completion of the first operational phase of its flagship project, "Green Oasis of Resolve." This milestone marks a qualitative leap in the concept of inclusive sustainability in Yemen. More than just an environmental initiative, this project serves as a living testament that disability is never a barrier to protecting our planet.
Throughout the implementation period, the project successfully transformed vision into concrete data and measurable facts:
Green Skills Empowerment: 45 children with disabilities and 90 caregivers were trained in sustainable urban agriculture techniques and organic waste recycling.
Establishing Sensory Gardens: We completed the construction of the first integrated Sensory Garden (500 sqm), specifically designed to stimulate the senses and provide a safe educational and therapeutic environment.
Direct Environmental Impact: The project contributed to restoring local biodiversity by planting climate-resilient species and processing over 2 tons of organic waste into natural compost.
Social and Professional Integration: We successfully created a model for "Inclusive Green Jobs," where participants gained practical skills that open new horizons in the future environmental labor market.
The project’s influence extends far beyond the implementation phase. Management of the garden has been handed over to a trained local community, ensuring the continuity of work based on Nature-based Solutions. Furthermore, we have published the "Green Skills Guide" in Arabic to serve as a replicable reference for similar initiatives in other regions.
"The Green Oasis of Resolve has proven that investing in green skills for persons with disabilities is an investment in a more resilient and equitable future for all." — GEFD Management
